Olympic Silver, World Bronze, Multiple Diamond League winner; Orlando Ortega is an internationally renowned hurdler

Ortega’s athletic career began in Cuba, where he quickly stood out due to his speed and technique. It quickly became clear that his talent lay in the sprint hurdles. In 2013, he moved to Spain and began competing for his new home country. Ortega is known for his smooth technique and impressive speed between hurdles. His perfect combination of strength, flexibility, and speed makes him one of the most formidable competitors in the 110 meters hurdles. His determination and dedication to the sport are evident in his training regimen and performances.

In recent years, Ortega has faced numerous setbacks. He suffered an injury in Tokyo during his final training session before the heats at the Olympic Games. In the following years, he endured another injury. However, his determination enabled him to qualify at the last moment for the European Championships, where he reached the semifinals.

 

Ambitions

Orlando Ortega remains determined to push his limits and continually improve his performances. With the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris on the horizon, he is focused on running the best races in years again. However, given the challenges he has overcome, Ortega is already looking beyond the Olympic Games in Paris. He has set his sights on 2025 and is focused on that goal.
