Nick Smidt

Nick Smidt is the leading Dutch athlete specializing in the 400 meters hurdles. His dedication and hard work have made him the male top hurdler in the Netherlands.

His impressive achievements and continuous pursuit of improvement make him an inspiring figure in the athletics world. Smidt’s passion for athletics began at a young age. In high school, he discovered his talent for sprinting and hurdling. With a strong will and determination to excel, he joined a local athletics club, quickly standing out for his speed and technique. Smidt’s breakthrough came in junior competitions, where he won multiple national titles. His talent did not go unnoticed, and he got the chance to compete against top athletes in international tournaments. His participation in European and World Championships marked the start of a promising career at the highest level.

One of Nick’s most remarkable achievements was running a personal best of 49.28 seconds in the 400 meters hurdles at the Young Diamonds Challenge in the pre-program of the Diamond League Final in Zurich in 2019. This performance confirmed his status as one of the fastest hurdlers in the Netherlands and opened the door to more international competitions.

 

Dedication and training

Under the guidance of experienced coaches, Smidt has continually improved his technique and speed. His daily training regimen is intense, involving a mix of strength training, speed exercises, and hurdle training. This dedication to his sport has helped him consistently perform and achieve his goals. Smidt is determined to push his limits and improve his performance on the international stage. He aims at the Olympic Games in Paris after the European Championship of Rome, proudly representing his country.
